PEORIA, Ariz. Matt Breida Jersey . -- Taijuan Walkers ascension to a spot in the Seattle Mariners rotation is on hold. The Mariners shut down their top pitching prospect for at least one week on Friday after exams revealed inflammation in the bursa of his right shoulder. Seattle manager Lloyd McClendon said the decision was made after Walker flew to Los Angeles to get a second opinion on the sore shoulder that has limited him during spring training. "It definitely (stinks)," Walker said. "I feel good about the situation. Id rather not push it and fight through something and make it worse. Im just going to take the time off, get healthy and move on." Walker was examined by Dr. Neal ElAttrache at the Kerlan Jobe Clinic in Los Angeles on Thursday. He confirmed the original diagnosis of the Mariners medical staff in Arizona. For now it appears to be a minor setback and something many pitchers experience at one time. But Walker was being counted on by Seattle to be at the back end of its rotation and answer at least one question behind ace Felix Hernandez and American League Cy Young finalist Hisashi Iwakuma. Even Iwakumas status is a bit of an unknown as he has yet to throw because of a finger injury. Iwakuma was having his finger re-examined later Friday. The entire starting staff is in flux aside from Hernandez. "(A) lot of opportunities and we have a lot of big arms to hopefully take advantage of those opportunities," McClendon said. "Well see what happens. I just hope they dont all eliminate themselves. Then we have a problem." Walker is one of the top pitching prospects in baseball. The 21-year-old has quickly risen through the Seattle farm system and his major league debut at the end of last season only heightened expectations about what he could bring to the Mariners rotation in the future. Walker made three starts last September with a 1-0 record and 3.60 ERA. Walker showed up for camp with a sore throwing shoulder and had been limited to throwing off flat ground so far. He had long toss throwing sessions on back-to-back days earlier this week, leading to the hope of a bullpen session, but that has now been altered. Walker said he could feel the discomfort in his shoulder when he threw but didnt consider it painful, but rather more nagging. "This guy, were not just talking about 2014, were hopefully talking about the next 15 years," McClendon said. "We have to be cautious and we have to be smart." Walker is taking anti-inflammatory medication along with giving his arm a rest in the hope the inflammation will clear up. He said the visit to Los Angeles was reassuring, as was word that his MRI exams were clear and showed no structural damage. "Honestly, Im just going to try and take it day by day, see how I feel each day and not worry about the start of the season, just worry about getting ready first, getting healthy first," Walker said. "I dont want to get too ahead of myself and push anything." Walkers wont be going back to the beginning of his program but it could be difficult to have him ready by opening day due to the week of rest. If he follows the plans of Seattles other starters, Walker would start with flat-ground throwing, followed by three bullpens and two sessions of throwing live batting practice before possibly throwing a simulated game. Thats a best-case scenario and only works if he doesnt experience any discomfort in the shoulder through the process before finally getting into an actual game setting. "As far as the actual amount of time, its hard to say that because we still have to go the day-to-day thing, but we want to have a plan for him so he can look down and in his mind know where he is at and where he is going to be," Seattle head athletic trainer Rick Griffin said. "But the biggest thing is it has to be progression, day-to-day and pain free." Tai Streets Jersey . Lisicki beat South African Chanelle Scheepers by a 7-5, 7-6 (7-1) margin. Next up for the Wimbledon runner-up will be Slovenian Polona Hercog, who outlasted Czech Petra Cetkovska 6-4, 5-7, 6-1. Elijah Lee Jersey .Those stars, most notably the top line of James van Riemsdyk, Tyler Bozak and Phil Kessel, struggled against the Montreal Canadiens and must be better as the Leafs look ahead to facing the Pittsburgh Penguins and New York Rangers this weekend.1) Im about to read your mind. You want to pick the Los Angeles Kings to win the Stanley Cup, but you think theyre tired and you know the New York Rangers are well-rested, so youre not sure. But I am. Im right, arent I? 2) When Steve Ballmer told his friends he was investing two billion dollars in a sports venture, do you assume they asked him which league he was buying? 3) Do you know what FIFA stands for? Im starting to think that one or both "Fs" stand for "Fix". 4) Would it jinx Mark Buehrle if I told you that Roy Halladay was 7-2 on this day 11 years ago and went on to set the Blue Jays record with 22 wins? Thus, jinx or not, Buehrle is well ahead of Halladays 2003 pace with his 10-1 record. 5) For all the times you might have said you couldnt cheer for LeBron James, did you ever think that would be as easy as Lance Stephenson made it during the Heat-Pacers series? 6) I dont root for the Chicago Blackhawks or for any other team, but can you understand that Chicagos 7th-game loss to the Kings saddens me because it means anthem singer Jim Cornelison is off for the summer? 7) And speaking of big voices, wouldnt you drive to work with more enthusiasm if Bob Cole was describing the trip from the passenger seat? 8) If Steve (Basket)-Ballmer has another two billion dollars, which he does, do you think he might like to buy the Buffalo Bills, move them to Los Angeles and become Steve (Foot)-Ballmer? 9) Are we getting ahead of ourselves if we watch this weeks Blue Jays-Tigers series and imagine that its a playoff series? 10) I know its pro sports and theres no room for sentiment when tough decisions have to be made, so its clear we shouldnt feel sorry for Peter Budaj. But how do you ignore the fact that Carey Price called him "one of the nicest people Ive ever met"? 11) What should I make of the following - when once I raised eyebrows by saying I might watch soccers World Cup, I now raise eyebrows by saying I might not? 12) I know you never thought youd see this, but Im saying youll never see it again - two batters (KCs Billy Butler and Omar Infante), after hitting apparent singles to right field, were thrown out at first base by Jose Bautista in back-to-back games. Emmanuel Moseley Jersey. Do you think you might see that again? If so, let me know and Ill bet you two billion dollars. 13) The Memorial is otherwise known as Jack Nicklaus golf tournament. Is it time to admit youre old if you remember the events that used to bear the names of Bob Hope, Bing Crosby, Andy Williams, Glen Campbell, Sammy Davis Jr., Joe Garagiola, Jackie Gleason, Dean Martin, Ed McMahon, Danny Thomas and Jamie Farr? 14) Are you curious to know why Los Angeles Kings playoff hero Alec Martinez didnt take up baseball like Dennis, Edgar, Pedro, Victor, Carlos, Buck, Dave, J.D., Nick, Tino etc. etc.? 15) When Torontonians read about citizens the world over who have voted against Olympic bids by their cities, do they have trouble remembering when they voted to support the staging of the 2015 Pan-American Games? 16) A Toronto Argos press release began with the announcement that Chad Kackert had been named the teams strength and conditioning coach. Shouldnt the first line have dealt with the retirement of the 2012 Grey Cups most valuable player? 17) Do you wonder, as I do, why NHL players on their way to the Stanley Cup final refuse to touch the trophies that signify conference titles, but have no trouble donning hats that do the same thing? 18) I thought it sounded silly when David Ortiz declared "war" on David Price of the Tampa Rays, but let me ask you this - if you were casting a movie and you needed someone to put fear in the heart of the enemy, wouldnt Big Papi fit the part? (As long as he wasnt talking about baseball, I mean). 19) Alex Ovechkin called Barry Trotz to welcome him to Washington. Just in case the new coach might wonder whos boss? 20) And finally...if the Stanley Cup Final finds you humming the 70s disco hit "From New York to LA", you should know who sang it. Do you? (See below, music lovers). Video - "From New York to LA" - Patsy Gallant (Campbellton, New Brunswick). ' ' '
